Your stupid face on a Paris photo

Ned was walking on the streets close to the Hotel that he's staying at Gaspé. It was starting to get colder, so he decides to get in and try to write a little bit before going to bed. He thought it was probably a good idea to talk about the nice people he met at Matane yesterday, he realized that there must be something particular in small towns, definitively people tend to be more friendly to strangers than in big cities. But he thinks that this a very cliché subject so Werner enters the door and he makes a reasoning on typical people´s profile pictures on stupid sites like Facebook, Hi5, Orkut or MySpace.

Hi Werner,
Here you are again. You know it's much easier -at least for you- to talk about the negative things that the positive. You enjoy criticizing people's behavior, habits, they way they talk, walk or whatever. You know it's more easy to destroy a house than to build it. So here we meet again.

-Hi Ned, it not nice to meet you again. You make me sick and I'm not going to waste my time talking to you because I only wanted to mention the people and their pictures. They´re just like you, i.e. they make me sick too. It so sad to see people taking pictures of themselves in front of la Tour Eiffel, the Statue of Liberty, with their kids, their dogs, friends having drinks, ..., what is the point of all this? What is the reason for all this crap they put on their Facebook profiles? Let´s start with the typical picture of France. Why do you have a picture of Paris in your profile if you are Colombian and you hardly know anything about that city and the French culture. You think you´re cool or what? who do you want to impress? I guess it is not me. By the way, there nothing more unfrench than La Tour Eiffel. It is just full of tourist, taking all kind of stupid pictures that at the end they will just look the same. The tourist just ruin the landscape, they destroy the pure essence of the picture because they were not part of the original notion of the place they are visiting. The Eiffel Tower is not French anymore, now is more Chinesse, English, American, ..., but not French. It belongs to the tourists now and the tourists are the one that ruined it at the same time. But well, I guess it is fair since they pay a high price to get into an elevator and hear something that you can easily find on the internet and then take a simple panoramic view of the city. It is not a big thing, actually it is boring. And the most boring part are the lines you need to stand. That is just the worse. It would be probably easier to use one of those picture processing software with the 10 different templates of this Tower and then just add your silly face on it.

-Werner?

-Yes, Ned?

-I'm tired, I want to get some sleep. Take a look at this article that I found on the Net, you might like it: http://tedtt.blogspot.com/2007/07/facebook-myspace-hi5-and-just-about.html
Maybe we should continue this interesting talk later.

-OK, thanks Ned and have a good one.
